Auto Insurance Terms
Liability - Bodily Injury (BI) / Property Damage (PD)
This type of coverage includes injury or damage you might do to the other driver, if you are found at fault.
Amount pays up to for bodily injury caused to the other person: $20,000
Amount pays up to for property damage caused to the other person: $15,000
Amount pays up to, combined total of above $40,000

Uninsured / Underinsured Bodily Injury
If an uninsured driver causes you bodily injury, pays you up to this amount. Or, if the costs for bodily injuries you receive are greater than the other driver's limit, then the other driver is "under"-insured, and pays you up to this amount.

Uninsured / Underinsured Property Damage
If an uninsured driver damages your vehicle, pays you up to this amount. Or, if the damage costs for your vehicle are greater than the other driver's limit, then the other driver is "under"-insured, and pays you up to this amount.

Medical Coverage / Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Coverage
Medical Coverage pays you for medical payments (hospital bills, doctor bills, funeral services in the event of your death) resulting from injuries to you in an accident, no matter who was at fault.
The expenses must occur within three years of the accident to apply.
Personal Injury Protection pays you for the above medical payments as well as any loss of income or essential service expenses brought about by injuries from an accident, no matter who was at fault. Again, the expenses must occur within three years of the accident to apply.
In short, P.I.P. covers medical expenses and then some.

Other-than-collision
Pays you for replacing or repairing your vehicle after mishaps other than collisions, including: fire, theft, vandalism, and glass breakage.

Collision Coverage
Pays for repairing/replacing your vehicle following an accident, no matter who's at fault. This also includes damage to your car by striking an object, for example, a telephone pole.

Rental Coverage
Pays 20, 25, or 30 dollars per day to cover a rental car while your own vehicle is being repaired from an accident.

Towing
Covers any incidents in which the vehicle is towed.
Death Benefit
For a minimal amount, the insurance company will pay up to the amount of coverage in the event of your death or dismemberment. Not all companies have this option.
UP TO - the insurance company will pay any amount up to this amount, and no more. They will not necessarily pay this exact amount; it's our maximum amount payable.
